Late night shopping makes a welcome return to York’s city centre this Friday 19 February as Shambles Market extends its opening hours to 9pm.
Popular traders will start the weekend off in style by selling a range of unique items, including classic vinyl, stylish bags, delicious homemade fudge and stunning antiques.
On 19 February 2016, the Friday’s Night Market will see a selection of Shambles Market traders housed outside the rear of Ye Old Shambles Tavern, the former slaughterhouse-turned-pub serving Yorkshire beer and cider, and in front of the fish and cheese kiosks.
Traders will include Phil Waines of Heart of Wax offering vintage vinyl, Roy Dean – also known as ‘That Fudge Guy’ – cooking up delicious flavoured fudge, Frances Cormerford bringing wonderful antiques and Kevin Tuohy from Bags Of Style showcasing this season’s latest looks. Also expected to attend are Pete Allanson (honey & mead), Barbara Kingan (pop-up greeting cards), Cylich (Viking pottery) and Jean Mitchell (books).
Chris Price, City Centre and Markets Manager, Make It York, says: “We’re working hard to deliver what everyone wants to see at Shambles Market – quality independent traders and the best produce at convenient times. We trialled a Friday Night Market in the run up to Christmas and it became an instant success, if this one is popular too, then we’ll aim to put on more night markets throughout the year.”
